What’s happening?
Townsville landmarks will shine purple and blue from 2–8 February 2025 as part of Feeding Tube Awareness Week (FTAW).
The campaign, led by ausEE Inc., involves over 120 landmarks across Australia and New Zealand lighting up to raise awareness about tube feeding and its role in supporting individuals who cannot eat or drink enough to meet their nutritional needs.
Townsville joins cities like Brisbane, Gold Coast, and Toowoomba in showcasing their support during this important awareness initiative.
Why it matters?
Tube feeding, or enteral nutrition, provides life-sustaining nourishment to people with medical conditions such as eosinophilic diseases.
Sarah Gray, CEO of ausEE Inc., highlighted the significance of the campaign, saying, “Feeding Tube Awareness Week aims to increase community support and understanding about tube feeding and the impact on individuals, carers, and families.”
Raising awareness not only fosters understanding but also reduces stigma, creating a more inclusive community.
Local Impact
Townsville residents are encouraged to visit participating landmarks, take photos, and share them on social media using hashtags #FTAWLightUp, #FTAW2025, and #TubieTuesday.
This week-long initiative shines a spotlight on the challenges and triumphs of those living with feeding tubes while building solidarity and support locally.

- Founded in 2009, ausEE Inc. has been at the forefront of raising awareness for eosinophilic diseases and tube feeding.

Zoom In
Townsville’s participation in the #FTAWLightUp campaign reflects the city’s commitment to supporting those who rely on tube feeding.
“Purple is a common colour of feeding tube supplies, and blue represents what flows through the tube, be it blended foods, breastmilk, formula, or water,” explained Sarah Gray.
Residents can also explore powerful #MyTubie stories and #SpecialistSpotlight profiles shared throughout the week to better understand the lives of those who rely on this essential medical support.
