Eastbrooke Family Clinic was announced as the provider for Townsville’s Medicare Urgent Care Clinic, marking a significant step towards accessible healthcare.

In a joint effort by the Albanese and Palaszczuk governments, Townsville residents are set to experience a transformative shift in healthcare accessibility with the establishment of the Townsville Medicare Urgent Care Clinic (Medicare UCC).

The Eastbrooke Family Clinic, slated to commence operations in December 2023, aims to cater to urgent medical needs while alleviating pressure on the Townsville University Hospital.

Pioneering Accessible Care

This initiative stands as a beacon of enhanced healthcare provisions, emphasising extended hours of operation, operating seven days a week, offering walk-in care, and notably, providing fully bulk-billed services.

This comprehensive approach ensures that Townsville residents receive timely and quality medical attention without financial barriers.

Expanding Healthcare Frontiers

The Townsville Medicare UCC joins a network of 11 similar clinics spread across Queensland, extending its reach to various regions, including Bundaberg, Cairns, Gold Coast, and more.

This expansion is a testament to the collaborative efforts between the Commonwealth and Queensland Governments under the Primary Care Pilots program.

Shannon Fentiman, Minister for Health, Mental Health, and Ambulance Services, highlighted the significance of this development, affirming, “Townsville families deserve free, high-quality health care close to home, and that’s exactly what the new Medicare Urgent Care Clinic will provide.”

Bridging Townsville’s Healthcare Evolution with Governmental Commitment

This milestone not only underscores a commitment to enhancing healthcare accessibility but also complements the ongoing $530 million expansion of the Townsville University Hospital.

As Townsville gears up for this transformative change, it stands as a testament to the joint dedication of the Albanese and Palaszczuk governments towards ensuring top-notch healthcare for all Queensland residents.

This latest addition to Townsville’s healthcare infrastructure signifies a pioneering stride towards readily available, superior medical services and exemplifies a forward-looking approach in addressing community healthcare needs.
