As Australia Day approaches, Townsville City Council extends a warm invitation to all residents to partake in a day of reflection, respect, and celebration.

The day’s events promise something for everyone, from early risers to families and individuals of all ages.

Start the Day Right

The morning kicks off with a Fun Run and free Aussie breakfast at The Rockpool on The Strand, beginning at 6 a.m.

Following this, at 9 a.m., the Australia Day Flag Raising Ceremony will take place at Jezzine Barracks, a poignant moment to honour the nation’s heritage and diversity.

Beach Day Out

For those seeking a leisurely day by the sea, The Rockpool through to Strand Park will host a Beach Day Out from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This promises to be a delightful opportunity for families and friends to come together and enjoy the natural beauty of the area.

Inclusive and Accessible

The festivities are designed to be inclusive, with disability parking, pet-friendly facilities, nappy-changing amenities, and wheelchair accessibility, ensuring that everyone can participate in the day’s events.

Join the Celebration

The 2024 Australia Day Flag Raising Ceremony is presented by Townsville City Council in partnership with the Queensland Government and assisted by the Australian Government through the National Australia Day Council.
