What’s happening?

Learning Connections is hosting a free information session in Townsville on Thursday, 5 June 2025, from 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm at The Surf Club, 178 The Strand. The event offers educators a closer look at how neurodevelopmental movement programs can help children settle, self-regulate, and be ready to learn.

Why it matters

The program is built around whole-group movement activities that support vestibular function, coordination, motor skills, and posture—providing a foundation for cognitive development and better learning outcomes. Designed for just 15–20 minutes a day, it’s an accessible, research-backed tool for busy classrooms.

Local Impact

Queensland teachers—from kindergartens to primary schools—are already seeing the benefits. At St Francis Primary School in Ayr, Assistant Principal Rita Cranitch said the program “is now a drawcard”, adding:

“You will also see a smile on the faces of parents walking past as they know their children are getting ready to learn.”

Anna Woodhouse from Kidz at the Beach said: “I will be recommending the program to whoever will listen.”

Shay Gilliland from Kookaburra Creek Kindergarten shared: “The Early Years Program has changed the way I think.”

A Toowoomba-based teacher noted: “This year we are providing Learning Connections in all our classrooms across the school.”

By the Numbers

  • Over hundreds of Queensland educators are using Learning Connections across kindergartens and schools.

  • The program requires only 15–20 minutes per day.

  • Since 2021, Radford College has embedded the program and recently developed a P–2 scope and sequence to support teacher implementation.

Zoom In

The method builds key developmental systems—balance, coordination, and fine/gross motor skills—that support emotional regulation and classroom readiness. It’s not just a tool for learning but a strategy for better behaviour and teacher focus.

Zoom Out

With increasing interest in wellbeing and cognitive support in education, Learning Connections is contributing to broader efforts to shift schools toward neurodevelopmentally-informed teaching strategies that are easy to adopt and scale.

What to look for next
