What’s happening?
Dementia Australia is offering free education and support sessions in Townsville and Bowen between 15 and 19 September, 2025. These sessions are designed for people living with dementia, their carers, family, and friends. Bookings are essential.
Why it matters
There are an estimated 85,200 people living with dementia in Queensland. Without a medical breakthrough this number is expected to rise to more than 168,300 by 2054. The sessions provide opportunities to better understand dementia and to discuss the services and support that Dementia Australia can provide.
Local impact
The program brings dementia-specific education directly to Townsville and Bowen communities. Sessions will cover topics such as memory concerns, changes in behaviour, carer wellbeing, and communication. Carers, families, and friends will also have access to information on practical assistance, counselling, respite services, and networking opportunities.
