Innovation and fast installations in the tropics deliver the Daikin dealer difference.
Founded in 2004, Polar Industries was built on a vision to do things differently. Director Daniel Condon started the air conditioning business at just 21 years old, focusing on the values of honesty, transparency, and old-school service, principles he believed were missing in the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) industry.
As the company expanded, Daniel was later joined by Ben Hyde in 2010. He became Director and part-owner in 2015 and has been instrumental to Polar’s ongoing growth.
As a Daikin dealer since 2017, Polar Industries leads the market in North Queensland and is trusted by both homeowners and builders. With a strong reputation for quality and reliability, combined with its affiliation with the number one brand in air conditioning, the business has become the go-to provider for families in Townsville and surrounding regions for decades.
“Many of our customers return to us across generations, from grandparents, parents, and children. Our services aren’t just about air conditioning; it’s about being a trusted part of family life,” Daniel said.
When comfort can’t wait
Operating in North Queensland comes with its own set of challenges. Extreme heat and humidity make immediate air-conditioning support not just a convenience, but a necessity.
Daniel recognised early on the frustration customers felt when waiting weeks for service and introduced an express installation guarantee, promising supply and installation within 7–10 business days.
This customer-first thinking sets Polar Industries apart from competitors and demonstrates a proactive approach to service.
“We leave blocks of time open in advance for service appointments, so urgent fittings and repairs are prioritised for families, elderly residents, or anyone in distress, we get there fast,” Daniel explained.
Over time, the company has refined scheduling, staffing, and fleet management to ensure this promise is achievable.
This dedication is reflected in Polar Industries’ 4.9+ star rating on Google reviews. With more than 650 reviews, a rarity in the industry, customers consistently praise the team’s prompt service, transparency, and professionalism.
Industry partnerships driving customer excellence
Partnerships have been a key part of Polar Industries’ growth and success. Building strong relationships has allowed the business to expand and provide the best possible customer service.
Looking to solidify its market position, Polar Industries partnered with Daikin in 2017.
“We wanted to be an industry leader, so it made sense to align ourselves with Daikin as the number one brand in air conditioning. When the opportunity came up, we took it with both hands. Affiliating with them has given us the confidence to grow, knowing we have a name behind us that customers instantly trust,” Daniel said.

A long-standing relationship for Polar Industries has been with Itara & Jacana Apartments, a major serviced apartment complex along Townsville’s Ross River. For more than 15 years, Polar Industries and Daikin have supported the property, servicing both the body corporate facilities and over 200 holiday apartments.
“We work closely with management to ensure every unit and facility operates reliably. If something needs attention, we fix it straight away,” he said.
Over time, this approach has strengthened the partnership, with the entire complex now transitioned to Daikin for consistent comfort and efficiency. In particular, it’s Variable Refrigerant Volume (VRV) technology provides smarter climate control, allowing multiple indoor units to operate independently from a single outdoor system, ideal for the North Queensland environment.
Supporting a diverse and skilled workforce
The company’s commitment extends to workforce diversity and industry development. Flexible arrangements support working parents, exemplified by refrigeration service manager Angela Skinner, who leads a team of six technicians while balancing family life.
The business is also actively supporting industry growth by encouraging more female technicians. Tilly Kirchner, an 18-year-old first-year apprentice, has quickly become one of Polar Industries’ leading apprentices. In addition, the company engages with local schools through work experience programs, giving year 11 and 12 students insight into HVAC and electrical careers.
“We are proud of our diverse workforce and the impact we’re making by nurturing the next generation,” Daniel said.

Giving back where it counts
Beyond air conditioning, Polar Industries is committed to supporting its community. In 2019, the company sponsored Kirwan High School’s first all-female rugby league team, with the funding helping to establish themselves and ultimately win the competition in that same year.
“Backing local initiatives is about more than branding. We’ve been backing smaller sporting clubs throughout North Queensland because we want to make a real difference to organisations that need support,” Daniel said.
For more than 10 years, Polar Industries has also sponsored The Children’s Christmas Party, Australia’s largest festive event for children with illnesses, disabilities and complex needs.
“We are proud to give back to an initiative that touches everyone’s hearts. Our involvement is about building connections and making a positive impact, and we will continue to support for years to come,” Daniel concluded.
