An Aussie bull-rider who cut his teeth in Townsville back in 2018 has just been crowned the world Number 1.
Brady Fielder of Clermont, a five-plus hour drive west of Townsville, has declared himself the world’s best with an outstanding showing at the PBR’s (Professional Bull Riders) sold-out debut event in the Pittsburgh, USA.

The 25-year-old Fielder went a perfect 3-for-3 to win the US Border Patrol PBR Pittsburgh, leading to the number one ranking in the Unleash The Beast standings and the PBR, the biggest and most competitive bull riding event across the globe.
The only other rider to conquer all three of his animal athlete opponents was Felipe Furlan of Brazil, who finished second. Fielder took the title from some of the world’s best riders and rides again this weekend at the elite Unleash The Beast competition in Sacramento.
TIMELINE:
- 1997: Troy Dunn held the world number one bull riding title, the first and only other time an Australian claimed the title.
- 2018: Fielder competed at the invitation-only North Queensland Elite Rodeo in Hervey Range, earning accolades.
- 2019: Qualified for his first ever PBR World Finals held in Las Vegas.
- 2020: Fielder was named the PBR Australia Rookie champion.
- 2025: Fielder becomes the best bull rider in the world!
“After winning the 2024 PBR Camping World Team Series Great 8 award, given to the rider with the highest riding percentage, Brady is enjoying the best UTB campaign of his career,” PBR Australia General Manager Glen Young said.

ABOUT BRADY FIELDER
It all started when he was about two years of age – branding time on the family-owned property meant riding practise for Fielder on the calves. As he got bigger so did the stock. Right alongside him to teach him the tricks of the trade were his two older brothers Luke and Clint, and his dad Tony. He went to boarding school at St Brendan’s College, Yeppoon and like many kids that attended there, he competed in the Great Western Hotel Junior Bull Riding Series.
His success at the Great Western resulted in three consecutive team selections to compete at the Youth World Bull Riding championships held annually in Texas USA. By the time he had turned 18 and was old enough to start competing at PBR’s, Fielder had also competed in New Zealand as a member of the Australian High School team, won the CRCA 2017 Rookie title and the youngest rider to ever win the APRA National Bull Riding title.
He made his PBR debut in December 2018 at the Adelaide Invitational, two months later he was competing as a member of the Australian team at the prestigious PBR Global Cup in Arlington Texas, right alongside the who’s who of bull riding.
