What’s Happening?
Queensland Country Bank has been named among Australia’s Best Workplaces by Great Place to Work®.
The recognition acknowledges the member-owned bank’s inclusive, supportive and high-performing culture across its operations.
Why It Matters?
Queensland Country Bank was the only bank recognised on the national list, setting it apart within the financial services sector.
The result carries added weight because employees had a significant voice in assessing their workplace experience.
It also recognises a culture shared across branch services, frontline teams and corporate support functions.
Local Impact
Townsville Area Manager Amy Hawkins has experienced that culture throughout her long career with the bank.
“I started working at Queensland Country Bank almost 18 years ago, and one of the first things I noticed was the number of team members with long tenure and how positively they spoke about working here,” Ms Hawkins said.
“I am now one of those advocates. I have been given amazing support throughout my career and have always had leaders who are genuinely invested in my growth and development.
“We truly are a caring organisation that looks after its people, provides opportunities to reach our potential, and creates a workplace I couldn’t imagine leaving.”

Chief People Officer Katherine Brennan said employees’ daily experiences showed whether the bank’s values were being put into practice.
“What makes this recognition particularly special is that our own people have had such a significant voice in it. You can write values on a wall, but ultimately your people will tell you whether they experience them every day,” she said.
“For our team to tell us they feel supported, connected and empowered is something we’re incredibly proud of,” Ms Brennan said.
Zoom Out
Earlier in 2026, the bank was included in Australia’s Best Workplaces™ in Finance & Insurance 2026 list.
That industry recognition has now been followed by a place among leading workplaces across Australia.
What To Look For Next?
Queensland Country Bank can build on the honour by keeping staff support and development consistent across every team.
Its long-serving employees provide a strong base for maintaining the workplace culture recognised during 2026.
