Townsville City Council is urging the community to participate in the B-cycle battery recycling program.
RESPONSIBLE BATTERY RECYCLING
Batteries are a common form of hazardous household waste, and incorrect disposal can pose risks to people and the environment. The council has become an accredited B-cycle battery steward and has established drop-off points at various locations, including city libraries, waste transfer stations, shopping centres, supermarkets, and retailers.
By recycling batteries through the B-cycle scheme, up to 95% of their components can be reused in new batteries or other industries.
The Water and Resource Recovery Committee Chairperson, Russ Cook, emphasises the importance of proper disposal to prevent fires and protect the environment. He encourages residents to visit B-cycle to find drop-off locations for their used batteries.
