Townsville’s federal race is heating up as the 2025 election draws near.
With election day locked in for Saturday, 3 May, locals in the Division of Herbert are getting ready to decide who’ll represent them in Canberra.
Herbert takes in the heart of Townsville, while the city’s outer northern and southern suburbs are part of the Kennedy and Dawson divisions. One of the original seats contested in 1901, it’s named after Queensland’s first Premier, Sir Robert Herbert.
Here’s who’s put their hand up to represent Herbert so far:
-
Phillip Thompson – Liberal National Party (incumbent MP)
-
Felicity Cole – People First
-
Edwina Andrew – Labor Party
- Chris Evans- Greens
🗳️ More names could still be added, with nominations open until 12 noon, Thursday 10 April.
Voting in Herbert will follow compulsory preferential voting, meaning every box must be numbered in order of your preferences—starting with ‘1’ for your first choice.
