Cowboys Leagues Club recognised as the best in the Sunshine State – proving themselves a league above the rest.
Cowboys Leagues Club need to find more room in their trophy cabinet after being twice honoured at the Keno and Clubs Queensland Awards for Excellence last night.
The venue has proved itself on the Queensland stage, taking home the trophies for Special Achievement Award – Safer Gambling and Special Achievement Award – Responsible Service of Alcohol.
Cowboys Leagues Club has been a multiple winner of both categories over the last decade in a tribute to its community focus.
Clubs Queensland CEO Kelly Egan said while we applaud clubs who go above and beyond to support their community, which Cowboys Leagues Club has done for many years, we also want to take the opportunity to recognise those venues nailing the fundamental aspects of a community club.
“We never want our clubs to take for granted to role they play in encouraging safe and responsible practices and these awards pay homage to the clubs’ dedication to that,” Mr Egan said.
“Cowboys Leagues Club continually demonstrate dedication to their members both onsite and within their broader community and these awards are fitting for their contributions.”
Cowboys Leagues Club recently joined other North Queensland community clubs, and those from around the state, in raising funds for the Herbert River region to help those impacted by flooding.
Clubs Queensland handed over a donation of $75,000 to the Hinchinbrook Community Support Centre from funds raised by community clubs.
Mr Egan said the Awards event was a great opportunity to showcase how clubs go well beyond their remit to give back to their members and the broader community in which they operate.
“We are grateful to our clubs who see beyond their venue offering and club-related activities, to step up and really make a difference in their community,” he said. “This is what sets them apart in the hospitality market – their charter to support the members who support them, be it through sports programs, grants, fundraisers or creating an environment for members to really connect with others.
“The Clubs Queensland Awards, now in their 26th year, give us that opportunity to say – you’re doing a great job and we really value the service you provide to your members.”
