What’s happening?

The Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) and its member insurers will visit Ingham to meet with customers affected by recent extreme weather.

The consultations will allow residents to speak directly with insurers about their individual claims and seek advice about the recovery process.

Customers will be able to meet one-on-one with representatives from several insurers. They can discuss claim issues, ask questions, and receive guidance on next steps.

Policyholders can also receive general information about the claims process, dispute resolution, and other insurance-related support.

Why it matters

Natural disasters often leave residents facing complex insurance claims during recovery.

Meeting directly with insurers allows affected policyholders to raise concerns, seek clarification, and get guidance on resolving claims.

ICA Director of Mitigation and Extreme Weather Response Liam Walter said the consultations come after a challenging year for the region.

“North Queensland has faced its fair share of extreme weather over the past 12 months, from flooding in February last year through to Tropical Cyclone Koji more recently.”

“Anyone who experienced damage from any of these events is encouraged to come along and meet directly with their insurer for one-on-one support.”

“Insurers are committed to supporting impacted policyholders throughout their recovery.”

Local Impact

Residents in Ingham and nearby communities who experienced damage from flooding or cyclone activity will have the opportunity to speak directly with insurer representatives.

The consultations aim to help locals resolve claim concerns and better understand the support available during the recovery process.
