Support mobilised for NQ farmers amid flooding

What’s happening?

Rural Aid is calling on primary producers in Northwest Queensland affected by ongoing flooding to register for assistance.

Flooding across the region continues to disrupt farms, impact livestock, cut roads, and interrupt daily operations for rural businesses and families.

“Flooding in the region is creating serious pressures for farmers, with properties and livestock impacted, roads cut, and daily operations disrupted,” said Rural Aid CEO John Warlters.

“We were there to support farmers during the severe 2019 floods, and we remain committed to standing by our communities now and into the future.”

Why it matters

Ongoing flooding can place immediate strain on farm operations and create longer-term pressure on livelihoods and wellbeing.

Mr Warlters said Rural Aid understands how quickly flood events can affect both businesses and families, and support is available throughout the event.

“We understand how quickly these events can affect both businesses and families, and we’re here to help every step of the way,” he said.

Local impact

Rural Aid is actively mobilising to support farmers affected by the floods.

Hay and other essential supplies are being prepared and will be delivered to affected farms as soon as it is safe and access roads reopen.

These efforts form part of Rural Aid’s ongoing commitment to stand alongside rural communities by providing practical help and reassurance during flood conditions.
