What’s happening?
Applications are officially open for the 2026 AgriFutures Australia Rural Women’s Award. The Queensland Government is encouraging rural women across the state to apply before the closing date of Friday 7 November 2025. The award celebrates women showing courage and inclusivity in rural industries, businesses, and communities.
Why it matters
The award is more than recognition. It brings finalists into an alumni program that supports growth, collaboration, and professional development. This network provides ongoing opportunities for women to strengthen their leadership and share ideas.
Local impact
Queensland finalists will each receive a $2,000 grant from the Queensland Country Women’s Association. In addition to this financial support, finalists also gain access to training and a strong professional alumni community that helps extend their impact in regional areas.

Queensland’s 2025 winner, Food and Agribusiness Network CEO Nicole McNaughton, said the program gave her invaluable connections.
“It’s given me the opportunity to grow personally and professionally while connecting with an inspiring network of Queensland finalists – the inspiring Libby Cook-Black and Angie Nisbet,” Ms McNaughton said.
As the 2025 state winner, Ms McNaughton received a $15,000 Westpac grant and will represent Queensland at the National Gala in Canberra on Tuesday 28 October 2025.
“I’m excited for the upcoming National Gala – it’s a chance to reconnect with my fellow state winners, celebrate the strength of rural women, and proudly fly the flag for Queensland,” she said.
